About Quick Poses

Quick Poses is an app to help artists train their drawing skills by simulating a real world academic life drawing session.

Select your pose duration and a bunch of pose galleries and you are ready to go!

With Quick Poses, you can easily train your drawing skills, especially anatomy drawing with timed croquis practice. The purpose of this exercise is to find the essence of the pose within the configured time constraint. Each time the pose duration expired, a new random pose is presented so you can try again. At the end of the session, a summary of your sketches is displayed, use it to see how good you did this time.

This exercise is called gesture drawing or figure drawing and it is great to develop your skills at observing, simplifying and it is also good for warming you up before any long drawing sessions.

Configure your drawing session

  • Configure your poses duration to your liking.
  • Add a warmup delay at the beginning of each pose so it gives you time to prepare (eg. get a new sheet of paper if you practice using traditional medium).

Draw side by side using your Apple Pencil™

  • Use your favorite Apple Pencil™ directly in the app if you want to. If you do so, you’ll be able to analyse your drawings at the end of the session.
  • Support undo/redo during a session with a two and three fingers tap gesture or the buttons in navigation bar.

Or draw in overlay mode

  • Try the overlay drawing mode to develop new skills like your 3D comprehension of a pose.
  • Hit the palette icon to show the system tool picker and try different croquis styles.
  • Use the pencil button or double tap your Apple Pencil™ to quickly switch between your drawing brush and the eraser.

Use multitasking to practice in your favorite drawing app

  • Disable drawing mode to practice outside the app like with pen and paper for example.
  • And use iPad multitasking feature to run the app side by side with your favorite drawing app (eg. Procreate™, Paper™, Tayasui™, Photoshop™, etc.).

Check your session results

  • At the end of the session, a summary is displayed, use it to see how good you did this time.
  • Tap on each thumbnail to inspect your work in fullscreen.

Analyse your progress over time

  • Find all your previous sessions in the history screen.
  • Compare how you have progressed since last session.

Share sketches with your friends or teachers

  • When viewing your past croquis, hit the share button to export it.
  • Share it with your teachers or friends to have feedback.
  • Or continue your best sketches in your favorite digital drawing app.

Support dark and light mode

  • Choose between dark and light mode in your iPad control center to switch between light or dark background
